Daiches, David
(b. 1912)
   British literary critic, nephew of Samuel Daiches. He was born in Sunderland. He taught at the universities of Chicago, Cornell, Cambridge and Sussex. His Two Worlds: An Edinburgh Jewish Childhood depicts his rebellion against Orthodox Judaism personified by his father. His interest in Hebrew matters is reflected in The King James Version of the English Bible.
